How the engine decides
Every desk here works from what you give it. It reads your copy, finds what is weak, and writes it again. It does not go looking for facts anywhere else.
Fidelity comes first
The engine will not add a fact until you ask it to. Not a name, not a number, not a date, not a quote. Enriching a story is your call and never its own.
When a rule about style and a fact pull in opposite directions, the fact wins and the rule gives way. Tests check this before anything reaches you.
What it will never do
Asking does not license invention. It will not make up a source. It will not put words in quotation marks that nobody said. It will not fill a hole in your reporting with something that merely sounds right.
What it learns from you
When you change what a desk gives back, your change is the lesson. The Teaching Room shows you every lesson it has drawn and lets you keep it or throw it out. Nothing is learned in secret.
